The laptop will not show any signs of being charged even when plugged into a power source.

A bad laptop charger is the most common cause for a laptop that will not charge. If you can find another laptop that is compatible with your HP Pavilion 17-e117dx charger, try charging the other laptop with your charger. If the second laptop won’t charge with the same charger, then the problem is the charger itself.

The cause can very possibly be the battery itself. If the battery has been damaged, it won’t be able to take charge.

The problem may not be with the laptop at all. It may be that the electrical outlet you are using isn’t working.
