The device will not charge or hold a charge.

Ensure the power cable is properly connected to the laptop, and the charging light is on. If the light is not lit, try plugging the power cable into another outlet.

Before rushing into any other troubleshooting procedures, try connecting another power cable to laptop to determine if the power cable is defective. If the new cable charges the device, the original cable is defective. Consider purchasing another power cable.

If the device only works when the power cable is connected, the battery is most likely defective and may need to be replaced. This task will be accomplished by removing the bottom cover and by removing the screws holding the battery to the device. Detailed instructions will be located in the Battery Replacement Guide.

The device will not power on.

Ensure the battery is charged and/or the power cable is fully plugged into device. If those steps did not correct the problem, the battery may be defective and needs to be replaced. This task will be accomplished by removing the bottom cover and by removing the screws holding the battery to the device. Detailed instructions will be located in the Battery Replacement Guide.

If the previous step did not remedy the issue, the hard drive may be corrupt and needs to be replaced. The first step would be to remove the bottom cover , and then, the screws holding the hard drive in the device can be removed. Detailed directions will be explained in the Hard Drive Replacement Guide.

The laptop touchpad will not respond to finger.

Power down the laptop, take a slightly damp microfiber cloth and gently wipe off the touchpad, once completed allow the laptop to dry before turning the laptop on. After device boots up, try the touchpad again.

Before rushing into any other troubleshooting procedure, restart your laptop to fix software glitches that may cause the touchpad to malfunction.

If the touchpad still does not respond to touch, check connecting cable. The bottom cover can be removed to access the touchpad connecting cable. Refer to the Touchpad Replacement Guide to locate touchpad connecting cable and detailed directions on correctly reconnecting the cable .

Touchpad is physically damaged. The bottom cover will need to be removed to access the touchpad . The touchpad connecting cable and screws can be removed. Refer to the Touchpad Replacement Guide for detailed instructions.

The device takes a significant amount of time to boot up and to open programs.

If software was recently updated or installed, remove updated or new software. Reboot device.

Laptop making a loud noise when powered on.

If the hard drive is making a loud or unusual sound, the hard drive needs to be replaced. The bottom cover will need to be removed and then the screws holding the hard drive in the device may need to be replaced. Refer to the Hard Drive Replacement Guide for detailed directions.

If the fan is making a loud or unusual sound, the fan needs to be replaced. The bottom cover will need to be removed and then the screws holding the fan in the device will need to be removed. Refer to the Fan Replacement Guide for detailed directions.

There is no audio or audio is distorted out of audio jack.

If audio is good out of laptop’s built-in speakers and the headphones/earbuds are good, the audio jack may need be defective and needs to be replaced by Using the Audio Jack Replacement Guide.

The laptop is not receiving a WiFi signal or is not connecting via the WiFi network.

If the WiFi signal is verified good, the WiFi assembly may be defective and needs to be replaced using the Wifi Replacement Guide.
