  • There are 12 phillips head screws which need to be unscrewed before removing the backplate of the laptop.

  • Next, use a size PH1 Philips head screw driver to remove the screws.

  • Then, use a prying tool to help uncouple the backplate.

  • Finally, use both hands to lift up and take off the back plate of the computer.

              CPU Fan               
  • The fan is located here. You will need to remove three screws in order to lift the fan out from the motherboard.
  • You will need a Phillips 00 size screwdriver to remove the screws.

Step 6

  • Use your screwdriver to remove the three screws connecting the fan to the motherboard.

  • Grab the fan with your hand, and lift up and away from the motherboard.

  • Grab the fan power connector by the wires and pull directly away from port until the cable is disconnected.

              Heatsink               
  • Prepare to remove the heatsink by removing the four screws that connect it to the motherboard.
  • Make sure you have a Philips 00 size screwdriver to remove the screws.

Step 10

  • Unscrew all four of the screws connecting the heat sink to the CPU.

  • Lift up the heat sink by the strip of metal connecting it to the exhaust vent, and pull it away from the motherboard.
