Introduction

Prior to beginning this repair, be sure to shut down the laptop and unplug the device from the charging cord.

What you need

              Back Cover               
  • With the T5 screw-bit and screwdriver, loosen the five captive screws on the bottom of the laptop.

  • With a spudger or opening tool, pry above the computer’s hinges and separate the posterior edge and sides.

  • The back cover is held in place by magnetic strips.
  • Remove the battery.

              Fan               
  • With tweezers, pull back the retention tape that is attached to the fan cable.

  • Use your fingers to carefully disconnect the fan cable from the motherboard.

  • Using a Phillips #1 screwdriver, loosen the three screws that secure the fan to the motherboard.

  • With two fingers, carefully lift the left edge of the fan and remove it from the board.
