Audio from the device is not working or sounds distorted.

Try using the laptop in a different room, building, or even outside. If the noise does not occur in a different location, you might have an electrical interference issue.

Update BIOS to the latest version. For exact details on how to update your BIOS, visit HP BIOS troubleshooting.

Run HP Support Assistant to automatically update the chipset and audio drivers. If this does not work you can manually update the chipset and drivers by going to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads for chipset and HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads for audio drivers

The device will not turn on or show any signs of power even when the charging cord is plugged in.

If the device doesn’t power on at first, try removing the battery, then hold the power button for 15 seconds to dissipate static charge, then reinsert the battery. If the device still won’t power on, consider replacing the battery.

Check the pins inside the power connector socket, and the charger. If either pin is bent, use a thin tool such as a toothpick to realign them. If the device still isn’t charging, try a replacement charger. If this fails, replace the power connector.

Wi-Fi and connections are weak or there is no connection

Common problem could be that your wireless connection drivers are out of date. Go to HP’s Self-Service Page, input your operating system, then select Driver-Network and install the updated drivers.

If your drivers are up to date and connection is still weak or inaccessible, the wireless connection chip is faulty. Replace the wireless connection chip.

The laptop gives a Blue Screen Error and stops responding.

The 0x00000007 error can be caused by damaged, deleted or invalid system files. The issue can be troubleshot by booting the laptop in Safe Mode, by holding F8 while restarting the system. Open the command prompt by typing “cmd” in the search bar from the Start Menu, and run the program as administrator. Entering the command “sfc /scannow” will scan the system for and replace damaged system files. Using “chkdsk c: /f” can find and repair system errors and bad disk sectors. After troubleshooting, restart your device to start Windows outside Safe Mode.

The 0xc000012a error will often be caused by damaged or invalid system files as well, though this error will most often come up after a system update, and logging in will not be possible. Power the laptop on and off three times. On the third bootup, it will boot into the Advanced Recovery Environment. Menu through “Troubleshoot” to “Advanced Options” to “Command Prompt.” With the command prompt open, enter the command “sfc /scannow” to scan the system for and replace damaged system files.

The device powers on but displays nothing. This is also usually accompanied by the power indicator and caps lock button blinking.

Check the power connector’s socket. If the central pin in the socket is bent, use a thin tool such as a toothpick to realign the pin. If the problem persists, consider replacing the power connector.

Before or while powering on the device, try holding Win + B or Win + V to access the BIOS updater.

While powering on the device, repeatedly press Esc to access the HP Startup Menu. From the menu, select “System Diagnostics” (F2), navigate to “Component Tests”, and select “Hard Drive.”
