Introduction

When you find out that you cannot access the files on the SD card via your computer, you know that there’s something wrong with your SD card reader and it needs to be replaced.

Make sure to place your SD card separately in another safe place before you start replacing it.

What you need

Step 1

              SD card reader               
  • Remove nine 2.5mm screws embedded in the back cover using the Phillips #0 screwdriver.

  • Open the back cover using a spudger.

  • Now we can see the SD card reader (in the yellow rectangle) that we need to tear down.

  • Remove the three 2mm screws around the SD card reader using the Phillips #00 Screwdriver.

  • Disconnect the Flexible Flat Cable (FFC) from the motherboard.

Step 6

  • Remove the SD card reader the device.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
