Introduction

Before beginning, make sure the back of the device is cool to the touch. An overheated component can cause burns, therefore a cool to the touch device is ideal to work on.

What you need

Step 1

              Battery               
  • Orient the laptop so that the underside is facing up.
  • Rotate the device so that the CD slot is in the upper left corner.

Step 2

  • Put your fingers on the battery latch.

  • Using your fingers, push each battery latch simultaneously towards the middle.
  • This releases the battery.
  • Remove the battery from the laptop.

Step 4

              Back Panel               
  • Pull off the two rubber feet on the underside of the device.
  • Remove the twelve 9.5 mm screws from the underside of the device using a Phillips #2 screwdriver.

Step 5

  • Slide an opening pick around the edges between the back panel and the rest of the device to release the plastic retention clips that hold the panel in place.

  • Lift up on the panel to remove it completely from the device.

              Fan               
  • Unplug the fan cable from the connector on the motherboard.

  • Remove two 3.4 mm screws from the fan using a Phillips #2 screwdriver.

  • Lift up and remove the fan from the laptop.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.

Turn on the device and use it for several minutes for the device to come to operating temperature. Note how the bottom of the device feels, as it will be cooler than before the replacement was preformed. The response time after continuous use will be improved as well.
