Introduction

The possibility of being injured in this instruction is very low, as this instruction requires the chainsaw to be OFF. If the chainsaw is on, it is possible to be severely injured, so leave the chainsaw off. If you are worried about being cut by the chainsaw’s teeth, gloves can be worn, but they are not necessary.

Although a Husqvarna chainsaw was specifically used, the details of this instruction will work for all chainsaw types. It may be useful to determine the radius of your chainsaw’s teeth to find a file that fits properly. The Husqvarna has a chain pitch, gap between the teeth, of 3/8”, which is the radius of the file used.

Step 4

  • Pull the clutch down to lock the chain in place.
  • Doing this will prevent it from moving when the chain is being sharpened.
  • Use the power drill to spin the file, and slowly move the file along the edge of the tooth. Make sure that light pressure is placed against the tooth. File until sharp.
