The instructions below will help you quickly fix this problem at a low cost. You do not need any specialized skills to complete this task, but you do need the materials below. Please exercise caution when using acetone. Follow the safety labels on the blow dryer before proceeding.

  • Remove the nail polish brush from bottle.
  • Wrap the bottle of nail polish with aluminum foil to prevent the polish from drying.

  • Wipe the brush clean with a paper towel.

  • Clean the brush in small amount of 100% pure acetone in a glass bowl.
  • DO NOT USE ANY OTHER TYPE OF CONTAINER MATERIALS OTHER THAN GLASS or PORCELAIN FOR ACETONE. Acetone is a chemical that will damage the plastic’s surface by softening it, smearing it, or even dissolving the plastic.

  • Blow-dry the brush on medium-low heat from brush base to tip for 30-90 seconds.

  • Reshape the warm bristles by hand or press in a book, rotating as needed.
  • You can reheat the bristles if they are not yet flattened into the desired shape.

Test a swatch on a piece of paper to check the shape of the brush with the nail polish. If the shape is not yet to its desired form, restart the guide to reshape the brush.
