Introduction
If the side mirror glass on your 2011-2017 Volkswagen Jetta is broken or dirty, use this guide to replace it.
This guide does not require any special skills. Just follow a few steps and you can fit a new mirror to your car!
What you need
Step 1
Side Mirror Glass
- Turn on the accessory power.
- Twist the mirror adjustment knob to the side you are working on (L for left, R for right).
- Push the knob so that the mirror will angle towards the car.
- Turn off the accessory power.

Step 2
- Pull the mirror from the exposed back.
- There will be an audible pop when the mirror is fully detached.
- Use extra strength to pull out the mirror if needed. Do not worry about breaking the mirror.

Step 3
- Pull hard to release the wire from the metal prong, one at a time.
- If the wire is stuck, wiggle it from side to side.
- Hold the mirror firmly to avoid accidentally dropping it.

Step 4
- Reattach the wires to the metal prongs located on the new mirror.
- The purple wire goes to the prong furthest from the center of the mirror.
- The red wire goes to the prong closest to the center of the mirror.
- Make sure the wires are fully pushed in.

Step 5
- Line up the mirror with the housing and push in the central area.
- The mirror will audibly pop once fully reinstalled.

Step 6
- Turn the accessory power on.
- Using the adjustment knob, move the mirror back to a normal viewing angle.

Follow these instructions for either side mirror. The only difference will be which mirror you adjust using the mirror adjustment knob in step 1.
