              How to Repair a Round Head Ratchet               
  • Remove the direction selector dial by turning it counterclockwise with a T15 screwdriver.

  • Lift up on the direction selector dial to remove it.
  • Be careful to keep the heart spring in place during removal.

  • Lift up on the heart spring to remove it.

  • Remove the pawl and anvil by sliding them out of the ratchet handle.

  • Clean all the old grease and dirt off the parts with a rag.

  • Lubricate the pawl and the teeth in the head of the ratchet handle with a light coat of multi-purpose grease.

  • Reinstall the anvil and pawl by sliding them into the ratchet handle.

  • Reinstall the heart spring by sliding the end of the spring into the hole in the pawl.

  • Reinstall the direction selector dial, being careful to place the stud on the dial within the loop of the heart spring.

  • Reinstall the direction selector dial screw and tighten in a clockwise direction with a T15 screwdriver.
