What you need
Step 1
Removing a Headliner
- First, we will remove the visor. The visor is held up by the visor clip, and the actual visor.
- Remove the two Phillips #0 screws on the two visor mounts on either side of the cab.

Step 2
- Insert a flathead screwdriver 1/8th of an inch into the visor clip and gently pry up on the clip.
- Repeat the process from all 4 corners of the clip, until the top portion of the clip is half an inch from the headliner.
- Pull out the clip.
- Repeat on the other side of the cab.

Step 3
- Next, we remove the rear celling clips.
- Insert a flathead screwdriver into the top of the crevice on the rear ceiling clips. Gently pry back and forth until it springs open, revealing the screw inside.
- Use the 7/32" Allen wrench to remove the screw and pull on the clip to take it off.
- Repeat on other side of the cab.
Next, we remove the rear celling clips.

Step 4
- Next, we will remove the rear light. Single cab trucks will not have this light, so if you don’t, skip this step and move onto step 5.
- Use a flathead screwdriver to gently pry off the rear light fixture.
- This light is held in place by one clip. To put it in, you slide the wider side in, and push up on the thinner side to push the clip into place. To remove it, use a flathead screwdriver to gently pry the thinner side down, gradually applying more pressure until it springs out.
- Disconnect the wiring by squeezing both nobs on the wiring end and pulling away from the light. The wiring will pop out.
Next, we will remove the rear light. Single cab trucks will not have this light, so if you don’t, skip this step and move onto step 5.
Use a flathead screwdriver to gently pry off the rear light fixture.
This light is held in place by one clip. To put it in, you slide the wider side in, and push up on the thinner side to push the clip into place. To remove it, use a flathead screwdriver to gently pry the thinner side down, gradually applying more pressure until it springs out.
Disconnect the wiring by squeezing both nobs on the wiring end and pulling away from the light. The wiring will pop out.
Step 5
- Next, we remove the two rear tabs. These are fairly simple, but often tedious because of design.
- The tab is 2 inches long, with the first inch a straight shaft, and the last inch a bristled point that holds the tab in place.
- Use a screwdriver or two to get underneath the clips and pry them up as much as possible.
- Grab the tab firmly and pull it out in one continuous motion, moving it side to side or rotating it as needed.
- Repeat process on the second tab.
Next, we remove the two rear tabs. These are fairly simple, but often tedious because of design.
The tab is 2 inches long, with the first inch a straight shaft, and the last inch a bristled point that holds the tab in place.
Use a screwdriver or two to get underneath the clips and pry them up as much as possible.
Grab the tab firmly and pull it out in one continuous motion, moving it side to side or rotating it as needed.
Repeat process on the second tab.
Step 6
- Next, we remove the center console light. This light has 4 clips holding it up, 2 bigger main ones on each side of the light, and 2 smaller ones on the far end of the console.
- Choose a side that you will focus on. Line up your flathead with the side of the light that you chose and gently pry it up with increasing pressure until one of the two main clips disengages.
- This clip is extremely strong, but the console is much stronger, so do not worry about breaking anything.
- After the console pops out, disconnect the wiring for the light cables.
Next, we remove the center console light. This light has 4 clips holding it up, 2 bigger main ones on each side of the light, and 2 smaller ones on the far end of the console.
Choose a side that you will focus on. Line up your flathead with the side of the light that you chose and gently pry it up with increasing pressure until one of the two main clips disengages.
This clip is extremely strong, but the console is much stronger, so do not worry about breaking anything.
After the console pops out, disconnect the wiring for the light cables.
Step 7
- Next, we remove the one of the side panels. This is the panel that the seatbelt connects to.
- Remove the seatbelt cover. This is held by two mini clips on either side of the cap. They are flexible so you could just pry the cap off, but if wanted, use your flathead screwdriver to poke the clips out of place and remove the capping.
- This panel has 3 clips very similar to the rear tabs highlighted in step 5, as well as one big screw.
- Use either a big Allen wrench or a pipe wrench to remove the big screw under the capping.
- My screw was rusted, so I had to use the pipe wrench, but it came out without too much trouble.
- Gently pry each corner of the panel away from the wall to disengage each of the 3 clips, and the panel will pop out.
Next, we remove the one of the side panels. This is the panel that the seatbelt connects to.
Remove the seatbelt cover. This is held by two mini clips on either side of the cap. They are flexible so you could just pry the cap off, but if wanted, use your flathead screwdriver to poke the clips out of place and remove the capping.

Step 8
- Slowly remove the headliner from the vehicle.
- It is big and awkward and has a habit of bumping into everything on its path, but with the seats lowered flat, it will come out with some coaxing.
