Recovering Files from Locked HFS+ Drive
- I accidentally nuked my Mac by deleting a user account I did not recognize.
- This caused all my harddrives to be locked out with “custom” permissions.
- The solution was 2 part. First disable HFS+ Journalling on the locked drive by using an older version of Disk Utility.
- Second mount the drive on a Linux machine with HFS+ drivers loaded and Thunar GUI. Log into Thunar as Superuser. Type in this command " sudo gksudo thunar " after that just copy and paste the files from the old drive to a new drive.
- This system bypasses all of the permissions
