- Tie a knot two inches from the end of the thread.
- Place the opposite end of the thread into a sewing needle.
- Rubbing or wetting the end of the thread may make it easier to insert the thread into the sewing needle.

- Align the metal rib with the region of the fabric panel that it detached from.
- If necessary, use scotch tape to secure the metal rib into position so it does not lift up.

- Be careful to avoid injury when using a sharp sewing needle.
- Insert the sewing needle through the umbrella fabric panel and pull the thread through.
- Poke the sewing needle through the underside of the fabric panel on the opposite side of the metal rib and pull the thread through.

- Pull the sewing needle and thread across to wrap around the metal rib.

- Repeat Steps 4 and 5 until the metal rib is tightly secured to the fabric panel. Three additional loops is recommended.

Step 6
- Remove the thread from the sewing needle.
- Tie the loose end of the string to the end of the string with the knot from Step 2.

- Don’t run with scissors!
- Use scissors to cut off any excess thread.

Repeat these steps if there are multiple detached metal ribs from the fabric panel. Once the repair is completed, the umbrella should work properly again.
