Step 4
- Be careful with the booster cable clamp in order to avoid damaging your vehicle and getting electrocuted and NEVER allow the red and black cable clamps to touch each other.
- Bring out the booster cables. You must attach the cables in THIS order to the batteries of both vehicles:
- Connect one red clamp to the positive battery terminal on the Jeep (it will be the red spot on the battery) (Picture 1)
- Connect the other red clamp to the positive battery terminal on the other working vehicle (Picture 2).
- Connect one black clamp to the negative battery terminal on the other working vehicle (the negative terminal will be black and next to the red, positive terminal) (Picture 2).
- Clip the other black clamp to an unpainted metal nut on a brace next to the Jeep’s battery (Picture 3).

Step 5
- Leave the booster cables attached to both vehicles for approximately 10 minutes before attempting to start the Jeep. If it does not start right away, wait 30 seconds and try again. Continue to try until it starts, taking short breaks in between attempts.
- Once the engine starts, let the Jeep run for about 5 minutes to recharge the battery.
- In reverse order, remove the booster cables now that the Jeep is running and the battery has recharged.
