Step 2

  • Turn the canister around and locate the latch that secures the outer housing of the canister to the cyclone assembly, and push it upwards.
  • Now, free the cyclone assembly from the clear, plastic canister housing.

Step 3

  • Clean the inside of the cyclone assembly out. Use a cloth to clean; the more dust you can clear the less dust will end up in the exhaust of your vacuum.
  • If you have an air compressor, don’t be afraid to use it to blow the dust out of all the nooks and crannies of the cyclone assembly. This is a very sturdy component, and the strong air currents will not damage it.

I just run the water hose through mine then let it dry completely before putting it back together and especially before using.

It’s all plastic so it can’t hurt anything.

This can be done, but can be problematic if it is not cleaned thoroughly (not just in part you can see but the cyclone chamber that is above the little holes in the graphics) the dust will turn into clay pieces which sound like rocks during operation. If not allowed to fully dry BEFORE reassembly (48 hours) the cyclone chamber will mildew resulting in a bad smell coming from the vac exhaust during operation (possibly damaging the rubber seals as a result) and since the chamber is above the little holes you can see it’s difficult to resolve once it’s occurred.

I soak mine in a bucket overnight, I’ll NEVER get all the dirt out of the middle part, it’s unreachable, but this gets a LOT of the dirt out. Then I run water from the hose thru and shake it a bunch so more dirt (hopefully) comes loose. Then let dry completely!

I fully disassembled this canister by removing the screws on top and was able to clean the whole piece like new..

Great tips to clean your Dyson Vac. However, I just call my carpet cleaning guy for this daunting job. They offer a professional central vacuum cleaning for free when you purchase a cleaning service from them. If I am not wrong, the company is called Golden Line Green Care if you’d like check out if they are serving in your area.
