  • Pick a thread of your choice: fabric or sewing thread.

  • Pull one end of thread through the eye of the needle.
  • Make the two tail ends meet.
  • Tie a knot.

  • Lay your blanket (or piece of fabric) in front of you and pick your stitching direction.
  • We are stitching left to right!

  • Measure about half an inch from the edge of your blanket and mark it.
  • Send your needle through the blanket from the back from the marked point.
  • When pushing your needle through the blanket make sure your fingers are not near the needle.

  • Bring the thread around the fabric and push the needle through the very first stich creating a loop.
  • Do not pull the thread all the way though, as you will need the loop for the next step.
