A computer running Microsoft DOS and Windows can support up to 24 drive letters or partitions, or A-Z with A and B being assigned to your floppy disk drives.
When creating partitions using Microsoft fdisk, the computer is only capable of having one primary partition per hard drive. All other partitions will be extended partitions.
