The hoverboard does not respond to bluetooth pairing.

Check that the hoverboard and device you are attempting to connect to both have bluetooth turned on. Once turned on, the hoverboard’s Bluetooth connection will remain on for two minutes. Be sure to connect a device to the hoverboard within this two minute interval. If the connection remains unsuccessful, disconnect the hoverboard from the Bluetooth pairing list on the device and reconnect.

Check the hoverboard for low charge. This is indicated by a red light located between the foot pads. Fully charge the hoverboard. Then attempt to reconnect.

If the hoverboard and device are out of range, Bluetooth pairing will fail. Successful pairing will occur when the hoverboard and the device are less than three feet apart. Attempt to reconnect your device when in proper range.

If the hoverboard still fails to connect, there may be too many devices connected to it. The Hover-1 Charger can connect to one device at a time. If connection remains unsuccessful, disconnect all devices from the hoverboard and reconnect.

If connection is still unsuccessful, the Bluetooth receiver must be replaced. See our Bluetooth speaker replacement guide for assistance. The Bluetooth receiver is located on the circuit board that is removed in step 9.

The LED headlights do not turn on.

Your batteries could be running low, which would result in the LEDs not functioning properly. Try fully charging your hoverboard.

Your LEDs wires may have disconnected from the battery. See step 7 of our LED replacement guide to address this issue.

The LED bulb could be broken. See our LED replacement guide to address this issue.

The hoverboard does not respond to the power button.

Make sure that the hoverboard is charged. If the hoverboard has been charging for a long time but does not turn on, there may be another issue. Please view the Hoverboard fails to charge section if the battery does not hold a charge.

If the power button is responsive when pressed, but the hoverboard does not turn on, you may have issues with the battery. Please look at the Hoverboard fails to charge section.

Some hoverboards turn on when the user steps onto the footpads on the top of the board. The Hover-1 Charger first requires the user to press a button on the rear of the board.

LED headlights are flashing red.

The gyroscopic sensor may have become uncalibrated. See our Hoverboard gyroscope sensor board replacement guide to learn how to recalibrate your hoverboard.

The motherboard may have become damaged in some way. Learn how to replace your motherboard in Hover-1 motherboard replacement.

The user is unable to stand up properly when mounted on the hoverboard.

One common fix to an unbalanced hoverboard is to reset the system. Start by putting the hoverboard on a flat, level surface. Hold the power button down for five seconds. Wait until the indicator LED lights begin to flash and then release the power button. Let the hoverboard sit like this for 30 seconds. Press the power button once again to turn the hoverboard off. Power on normally.

Disconnected motor wires, gyroscope wires, or motherboard wires may cause performance issues. To check wire connections, you will need to open the device. Please view the first half of this tutorial.

If the resetting procedure has not worked, the hoverboard may have faulty gyroscopes. To determine which gyroscope needs replacement, count how many times the red light in the middle of the hoverboard flashes. If the light flashes seven times, the gyroscope on the battery side needs replacement. If the light flashes eight times, the gyroscope on the motherboard side needs replacement.

If the motherboard needs replacement, the red indicator light will flash one time. Please view Hover-1 motherboard replacement.

The hoverboard does not charge.

Before plugging in the hoverboard, check that the charger is plugged into a working outlet. If the charger is functioning normally, a small light on the charger will turn green. If the board is not fully charged, plugging it in will cause the light to turn red. Once the hoverboard is fully charged, the charger light will turn green.

If the hoverboard does not turn on and the light on the charger remains green, you may have a damaged battery. Please look at the battery replacement guide.

If the charger light does not turn on when plugged in, you may have a broken or disconnected charger port. If the charger does not plug into the port, you may have a jammed or blocked charging port. In both cases please look at this charger port replacement guide.
