The drone or controller will not respond or show any sign of powering up.
Ensure everything is plugged in, and observe which charging lights come on. If all lights appear on (controller, adapter, and battery), then the charging system is complete.
If not all lights are on, determine which component is problematic (if a component does not work properly, the charging light will not turn on when plugged in) and consider replacing the faulty component with a new one.
Remove the main battery from the GoPro Karma drone, then make sure that there is nothing blocking the battery from making a connection to the drone when attached. After, ensure the main battery is plugged into the adapter. If the light is still off, consider purchasing a replacement.
Ensure the controller is plugged into the adaptor. If the light is still off, try other USB-C cords. If it still will not power on consider purchasing a replacement.
The drone loses power before take off or during flight.
GoPro has issued a recall for the Karma, so you can get a refund if you experience this problem. If you would like to still keep your current drone, a quick fix is to put a large piece of tape over the battery to firmly attach it in the drone body.
Ensure that all wires/connection locations between the battery and the main board aren’t broken, and ensure that there is contact between the metal surfaces of said components.
The controller will not pair with the drone.
Make sure that the GoPro controller is turned on so that the drone is able to connect.
Ensure that the controller is in range of the drone so that the connection is not lost. If the drone is approaching limit range, it will notify you; make sure to be aware when flying the drone.
The drone will not initiate the take off sequence.
Ensure that rotors can rotate cleanly without being blocked by a foreign substance. Small pieces of debris may often times get stuck in the rotors, and prevent the drone from getting any lift. Make sure to clean your device to obtain proper performance parameters.
The drone will not stay in the intended shot location
Stay up to date on the most recent software updates to ensure that your drone and controller are compatible and working with the greatest efficiency possible.
Ensure that there are no foreign obstructions in the way of the infrared connection between the drone and the controller. The drone cannot properly function to the user’s preference if it cannot receive a connection from the controller. Fly the drone in open areas and within range.
