Loud noises are coming from the purifier.
The GermGuardian AC4825E’s HEPA filter unit is made up of two parts - the charcoal and the air intake. If dirt, dust, or other forms of blockage find their way into either component, they can cause excessive noise. To access the filter unit, remove the rear cover of the purifier using the lock and release button. Pull the filter unit out of the purifier and remove the charcoal - the black screen in front of the air intake - by pulling it off the Velcro straps. If there is some dirt, dust, or other forms of blockage on the charcoal, clean it by running it under warm water. Let it dry for an hour, then place it back on the filter unit, and place the unit back into position in the purifier. Make sure to place the rear cover back onto the purifier - without the rear cover, blockage may build up faster.
Only the filter unit’s charcoal is meant to be cleaned with water. Cleaning the filter unit’s air intake with water could cause damage to the filter unit. Instead, use a vacuum with a soft brush attachment to clean blockage from the air intake. If there is excessive blockage, you will need to replace the filter unit with a new one.
If the fan is misaligned, it may make contact with parts of the purifier, causing excessive noise. Some screws within the fan may be loose. This can happen after extended periods of the purifier’s use. Unplug the purifier and remove the rear cover of the purifier using the lock and release button. Then, remove the HEPA filter unit and inspect the fan for loose screws. Tighten any loose screws with a Philips screwdriver. Make sure to place the filter and rear cover back on the purifier when you are finished. If tightening the screws does not fix this issue, and the HEPA filter unit is clean, then you will need to replace the fan and motor assembly.
Purifier shuts off suddenly or will not turn on.
Check and make sure your purifier is plugged in. If it is, then the electrical outlet itself may be the issue, in which case the purifier should be moved to a space with a working electrical outlet.
An improperly installed HEPA filter unit can cause the purifier to malfunction unexpectedly. Remove the rear cover from the purifier and examine the filter unit to make sure that it is sturdily in place. Remove the filter to examine a visual arrow on the filter. This arrow should be pointing toward the inside of the purifier when attached, not away from it. Place the rear cover back on the purifier when you are finished.
The lack of a rear cover can cause dust and other forms of blockage to more easily enter the purifier, making the filter unit more susceptible to malfunctions. Examine the rear cover to make sure that it is attached properly - you should hear the lock and release button clamp into place.
Air purifier is not filtering air properly.
For air circulation purposes, it is best to use the filter in a wide, exposed area. Move any surrounding clutter away from the purifier - around 25-30 inches away - or move the purifier to an electrical outlet with the widest open space surrounding it.
In addition to unnatural noise, a blocked charcoal can also cause the purifier to be ineffective in circulating air. Remove the rear cover from the purifier using the lock and release button, remove the filter unit, and then remove the black charcoal from the Velcro straps. If there is dirt, dust, or some other forms of blockage, clean the charcoal with warm water, and let it dry for an hour. Then, place the charcoal back onto the filter unit, and place the unit back into its position on the purifier. Make sure to place the rear cover back onto the purifier, as blockage may build up in the purifier quicker without a cover. If cleaning the filter does not fix this issue, or if there is excessive blockage, you will need to replace the filter.
Unplug the purifier and remove the rear cover of the purifier using the lock and release button. Remove the charcoal and check the intake to confirm there are no forms of blockage within the vents. Blockage in the intake should be cleaned out by a vacuum with a soft brush attachment. This may be ineffective if there is excessive blockage, in which case you will need to replace the filter.
The UV Light located on the control panel of the purifier is flashing blue
The UV bulb on the GermGuardian AC4825E is a necessary tool for air purification. The bulb emits a UV light on the UV-C spectrum to eliminate bacteria, mold, and other microorganisms not visible to the human eye. If the blue UV light is flashing, then the UV bulb has gone out, and a replacement is required.
